GLAM members who are interested in diaries and the study of life writing may like to have a look at the website of the Great Diary Project: http://www.thegreatdiaryproject.co.uk/public_html/. Founded by Dr Irving Finkel (who some may know in his other incarnation as Assistant Keeper of Ancient Mesopotamian Script, Languages and Cultures at the British Museum), the project aims to collect and preserve ‘unwanted diaries of any date or kind’. This growing collection now has a permanent home at the Bishopsgate Institute in London. You can listen to Dr Finkel talking about the project for a recent BBC radio programme ‘The Man Who Saves Life Stories’: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhi9xKGGWX8&feature=plcp.
